Tilt Wheel Lever Replacement

1. Twist the lever counterclockwise and remove the lever.

1. Insert the lever in the appropriate socket. Twist the lever clockwise in order to install it.

Tilt Wheel Lever Telescope

1. Remove the upper column. Refer to Steering Column (Upper Column).
2. Remove the tilt/telescope pawl retaining ring.
3. Remove the tilt/telescope pawl.
4. Remove the tilt/telescope pawl spring and the spring pin.



5. Remove the rod and plate assembly from the housing.
6. Remove the rod and plate assembly spring and the spring pin.
7. Remove the tilt/telescope lever locknut and the knob.
8. Remove the tilt/telescope lever from the rod and plate assembly.
9. Remove the tilt/telescope lever extension springs and the pins.

NOTICE: Ensure that all fasteners are securely seated before tightening to the specified torque value. Failure to do so may result in component damage or steering column malfunction.




1. Install the tilt/telescope lever extension springs and the pins.
2. Install the tilt/telescope lever to the rod and plate assembly.
3. Install the tilt/telescope lever knob on the lever.
4. Install the rod and plate assembly spring and the spring pin.
5. Install the rod and plate assembly (with the tilt/telescope lever attached) to the housing.



6. Install the tilt/telescope lever extension spring and the spring pin between the lever and the housing.
7. Install the tilt/telescope pawl spring and the slotted spring pin to the housing.
8. Install the pawl onto the rod and plate assembly. Secure with the retaining ring.
9. Install the upper column. Refer to Steering Column (Upper Column).
