    • J 39307 Adapter
    • J 28474 Turbo Compound Gauge

CAUTION:: Do not perform this test with anyone in the area around the vehicle. The wheels of the vehicle should be blocked in order to prevent the vehicle from moving forward. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in personal injury and damage to the vehicle.

  1. Remove the front center mounting bolt from the air inlet.
  2. Install the J 39307 with a 6-7 foot rubber line with a 3/16 inch I.D.
  3. Route the rubber line into the cab.
  4. Connect the J 28474 to the end of the line.
  5. Test drive the vehicle with an assistant watching the gauge.
  6. Coast the vehicle with the engine in low gear at idle speed.
  7. Press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  8. Have the passenger note the boost pressure reading.
  9. A boost reading of 14 kPa (2 psi) or more indicates that the turbocharger is operating properly.

    Important: The 14 kPa (2 psi) reading is for quick accelerations only. The pressure reading can climb above 14 kPa (2 psi) under heavy loads. During deceleration, the pressure reading may even go down.
