Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Always use double-walled steel brake pipe when replacing brake pipes. The use of any other pipe is not recommended and may cause failure of the brake system. Carefully route and retain the replacement brake pipes. Always use correct fasteners for replacement brake pipes. Always route replacement brake pipes in their original locations. Failure to properly route and retain the brake pipes may cause damage to the brake pipes and failure of the brake system. [EDIT: Check S/T Truck sio-id=448]

Brake pipes that run parallel to each other must maintain a 6 mm (1/4-inch) clearance.

  1. Thoroughly clean the hose fittings at both ends.

  2. Object Number: 30777  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the steel pipe.
  4. Remove the retainer.
  5. Remove the bolt.
  6. Remove the gaskets.
  7. Remove the hose.

Installation Procedure

The hose must not be twisted or contact any suspension components after installation.


    Object Number: 30777  Size: SH
  1. Install the hose.
  2. Install the gaskets.
  3. Use new brass gaskets when installing the hose.

  4. Install the bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 44 N·m (32 lb ft).

  6. Install the retainer.
  7. Install the steel pipe.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the pipe fitting to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  9. Bleed the brakes. Refer to Bleeding the Brake Hydraulic System.
