Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the tires and wheels. Refer to Wheel Removal and Tire Mounting
and Dismounting in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the caliper. Refer to
Brake Caliper Replacement
.
- Remove the hub and rotor assembly.
- Remove the bolts that mount the rotor to the hub.
- Remove the rotor.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rotor.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 163 N·m (120 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts that mount the rotor to the hub.
- Install the hub and rotor assembly.
- Inspect the rotor for runout after it is assembled. Refer to
Rotor Inspection
.
- Clean both sides of the rotor with alcohol or a suitable solvent.
- Clean the grease cap of cover, if used. Coat the inside with wheel
grease. Do not fill the cap.
- Install the caliper. Refer to
Brake Caliper Replacement
.
- Install the tires and wheels. Refer to Wheel Removal and Tire
Mounting and Dismounting in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Test the brakes for firmness by pumping the pedal.
