Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 29085  Size: SH
  1. Block the vehicle's wheels.
  2. If the actuator will hold pressure, turn the ignition ON and move the column shift lever to N (Neutral).
  3. CAUTION:: If the actuator will not hold pressure, do not unthread the parking brake cable from the actuator piston. The cable is under tension and unthreading the cable will cause the cable to spring and can result in personal injury.

  4. If the actuator will not hold pressure, move the column shift lever to P (Park) and cut the parking brake cable with a bolt cutter.
  5. Remove the cotter pin on the actuator end of the cable.
  6. Remove the clevis pin on the actuator end of the cable.
  7. Remove the cable from the fitting on the actuator end of the cable.

  9. Remove the nuts and the "U" clamp assembly on the transmission end of the cable.

  10. Object Number: 29087  Size: SH
  11. Remove the cotter pin on the transmission end of the cable.
  12. Remove the clevis pin on the transmission end of the cable.
  13. Remove the cable from the lever (Hydra-Matic transmission).

  14. Object Number: 29071  Size: SH
  15. Remove the cable from the bellcrank (Allison transmission).
  16. Remove the cable assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 29087  Size: SH
  1. Install the new cable assembly.
  2. Install the clevis pin on the lever end of the cable.
  3. Install the cotter pin on the lever end of the cable.

  4. Object Number: 29086  Size: SH
  5. Install the "U" clamp assembly and the nuts (Hydra-Matic transmission).

  6. Object Number: 29072  Size: SH
  7. Install the "U" clamp assembly and the nuts (Allison transmission).

  8. Object Number: 29082  Size: SH
  9. Install the cable to the fitting on the actuator end of the cable.
  10. Install the clevis pin on the actuator end of the cable.
  11. Install the cotter pin on the actuator end of the cable.
  12. Adjust the cable. Refer to Hydraulic Auto Apply Actuator Cable Adjustment .
