SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL OIL COOLERS

MODELS: 1991-94 P3 MOTOR HOME (32) WITH 7.4L GAS ENGINES (RPO L19) 1991-94 P3 COMMERCIAL (42) WITH 4.3L, 5.7L, OR 7.4L GAS ENGINES (RPOS LB4, L05, L19)

CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK HAVE RECENTLY RELEASED A HIGH EFFICIENCY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER FOR SERVICE USE. THIS COOLER WILL BE INSTALLED ON ALL NEWLY BUILT P3 MOTOR HOME AND COMMERCIAL UNITS AS A 1994 INTERIM PROGRAM. THIS NEW AIR TO OIL COOLER OFFERS EXCELLENT COOLING ABILITY.

BECAUSE THE HIGH EFFICIENCY OFFERED BY THIS COOLER EXCEEDS MANY AFTER-MARKET COOLERS, CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK IS OFFERING IT IN KIT FORM FOR DEALER INSTALLATION. THIS COOLER MAY BE INSTALLED ON VEHICLES THAT ARE IN APPLICATIONS WHICH CREATE HIGHER TRANSMISSION OPERATING TEMPERATURES. THESE APPLICATIONS TYPICALLY INCLUDE HIGH FRONTAL AREAS OR HEAVY LOADS WHERE VEHICLES ARE OPERATED AT HIGHER ROAD SPEEDS.

THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLERS LISTED IN THIS BULLETIN HAVE BEEN THOROUGHLY TESTED AND WILL PROVIDE THE EXTRA TRANSMISSION OIL COOLING THAT TRUCKS USED IN THESE APPLICATIONS MAY NEED. ONE KIT IS AVAILABLE FOR MOTOR HOME UNITS AND A SEPARATE KIT IS AVAILABLE FOR COMMERCIAL UNITS. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE APPROPRIATE KIT IS ORDERED FOR THE CHASSIS. THESE KITS INCLUDE:

-COOLER -MOUNTING BRACKETS -CLAMPS -FLEXIBLE LINES -FASTENERS -INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

A NEW FAN BLADE MUST BE INSTALLED ON P3 MOTOR HOMES (32) WITH THE 7.4L GAS ENGINE. THIS FAN BLADE IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE MOTOR HOME SERVICE KIT AND MUST BE ORDERED SEPARATELY (SEE SERVICE PARTS INFORMATION BELOW).
