Some 1977 to 1989 R/V Suburbans may experience a whistling sound around the stationary glass (opera window) in the rear side doors. This condition may be corrected by replacing the rubber seal surrounding the stationary window identified in Figure 1. If the whistling condition is found to occur the rubber seal should be replaced with revised rubber seal (P/N 15646933). The difference between the two seals can be identified in Figure 2. The cross section shows that the revised seal has a much larger lip which will decrease the overall level of wind noise.
Vehicles built after the following VIN Breakpoints have the new seal installed.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
