Allison LCT1000 Transmission Hard to Remove from Park - kw automatic bind cable garage hard shift

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

GMT800 pick-up trucks equipped with the Allison LCT1000 Automatic Transmission may exhibit a condition in which it is hard to shift the transmission out of park. The condition may be more easily duplicated with the vehicle on a slight incline. The vehicle will require considerably more effort to remove from park then an identically equipped vehicle under the same conditions.

Inspect the shift cable routing for any kinks or other damage. Also make sure there is no ice build up around the cable on vehicles located in cold weather climates. If the external shifting system outside the transmission appears to be functioning correctly, replace the Park Pawl Apply Assembly (listed as a "Forward Clutch Pawl" in the parts catalog) inside the transmission with p/n 29536570.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
