Engine Front Crossmember Replacement 2WD

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1380495  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the engine crossmember bolts.

  3. Object Number: 1380497  Size: SH
  4. Remove the engine crossmember.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1380497  Size: SH
  1. Install the engine crossmember.
  2. Perform the following procedure before installing the bolts.
  3. 2.1. Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch.
    2.2. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    2.3. Apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488).

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the engine crossmember bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the engine crossmember bolts to 120 N·m (88 lb ft).

  6. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the differential carrier shield. Refer to Shield Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 1380502  Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolts retaining the crossmember to the frame.

  5. Object Number: 1380505  Size: SH
  6. Remove the crossmember from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1380505  Size: SH
  1. Install the crossmember to the vehicle.
  2. Perform the following procedure before installing the bolts.
  3. 2.1. Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch.
    2.2. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    2.3. Apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488).

  4. Install the bolts retaining the crossmember to the frame.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the crossmember retaining bolts to 120 N·m (88 lb ft).

  6. Install the differential carrier shield. Refer to Shield Replacement .
  7. Lower the vehicle.
