The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment that their outside rear view camper mirror (RPO DPN) glass (Passenger side) can not be positioned to allow the driver to see the right side of the vehicle. Root cause may be a pinched wire harness which interferes with the mirror glass operation. This condition has been corrected at the assembly plants effective 8/15/05.

Recommendation/Instructions:

To Correct this concern zip tie back the wire harness to the left side of the glass stop on the inboard side.

  1. Remove upper flat glass by placing flathead screwdriver (or similar device) in between the upper & lower glass and push the upper glass up.
  2. Tip: Tilt the glass down and use the spring finger ramp as the lever point.

  3. Pull out the upper glass. (lower glass does not need to be removed)
  4. Tuck the large wire harness to the inboard side (closest to vehicle) of the inboard glass stop.
  5. Place a zip tie around the plastic bracket near the screw and fasten the wire harness.
  6. Trim the excess material once the zip tie is secured.
  7. Install top glass by placing back into original position, and then place a flathead screwdriver (or similar device) in between the top of the shell and the top of the glass and pop the glass into locked position by pushing down.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
