DEFECT INVOLVED
GENERAL MOTORS HAS DETERMINED THAT A DEFECT, WHICH RELATES TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY, EXISTS IN CERTAIN 1994 TC31403 ONE TON CAB CHASSIS MODELS EQUIPPED WITH AFTER MARKET 36 GALLON FUEL TANKS. SOME OF THE FRONT AND/OR REAR FUEL TANK MOUNTING STRAPS MAY EXHIBIT CRACKING OR BREAKING. IF THIS SHOULD OCCUR, THE FUEL TANK COULD DROP DOWN STRIKING THE PAVEMENT, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A FUEL LEAK AND POSSIBLE UNDER-VEHICLE FIRE.
TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION, REPAIR FACILITIES ARE TO INSTALL A REVISED-DESIGN FRONT AND REAR FUEL TANK MOUNTING STRAP; AND INSTALL A REVISED-DESIGN MIDDLE STRAP.
