Engine Mount Replacement Front

Removal Procedure

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Cable in Engine Electrical.
  2. Inspect the engine mounts. Refer to Engine Mount Inspection .
  3. Notice: When raising or supporting the engine for any reason, do not use a jack under the oil pan, any sheet metal, or the crankshaft pulley. Due to the small clearance between the oil pan and the oil pump screen, jacking against the oil pan may cause the pan to be bent against the pump screen. This will result in a damaged oil pickup unit.

  4. Remove the engine mount through bolt and the nut.

  5. Object Number: 66191 Size: SH
  6. Raise the engine using a suitable engine lifting device, only enough to permit removal of the engine mount.
  7. Support the engine with a suitable jack. Do not load the engine mounts.

  8. Object Number: 66189 Size: SH
  9. If servicing a C-model truck, remove the engine mount assembly bolts, nuts, and washers.

  3. If servicing a K-model truck, install the engine mount assembly.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the engine mount assembly bolts, nuts, and washers.
  6. Tighten

        • Tighten the bolts to 59 N·m (44 lb ft).
        • Tighten the nuts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

    Object Number: 66191 Size: SH
