Was the Park Brake Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Place the Ignition in the RUN position.
  2. Disconnect the Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Module.
  3. Backprobe with a DMM (volts) between cavity C of the DRL Module connector and ground.

Is the specified voltage present?

12 volts

  1. Ensure the Ignition is in the OFF position.
  2. Ensure the park brake is applied.
  3. With the DRL Module connected, backprobe with a DMM (continuity) between cavity A of the DRL connector and ground.

Is continuity present?

  1. Disconnect the Park Brake Warning Switch connector.
  2. Connect a DMM (continuity) between the pin of the switch and ground.

Is continuity present?

--

  1. Place the Ignition in the RUN position.
  2. Apply the Park Brake.
  3. Backprobe with a DMM (volts) between cavity 8 of the Instrument Cluster and ground.

Is battery voltage present?

--

  1. Disconnect the Instrument Cluster connector.
  2. Connect a DMM (continuity) between cavities 4 and 31 of the I/C connector and ground.

Is continuity present?

Replace the Instrument Cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Locate and repair open in CKT 39 (PNK) between the IP Fuse Block and the DRL Module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Locate and repair open in CKT 1134 (PPL/WHT) between the DRL Module and Park Brake Warning Switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the Park Brake Switch. Refer to Park Brake Lever Assembly Replacement .

  1. Disconnect the DRL Module connector.
  2. Connect a DMM (continuity) at cavity E of the DRL Module connector and cavity 8 of the I/C.

Is continuity present?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 33 (TAN/WHT) between the DRL Module and the I/C. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Locate and repair the open in CKT 451 (BLK/WHT) between the I/C and ground G103 and G104 (Gas). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
