Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable.
- Remove the knee bolster. Refer to
Knee Bolster Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the instrument panel (IP) auxiliary storage compartment,
if equipped.
- Remove the remote CD player, if equipped.
- Remove the ashtray. Refer to
Ashtray Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Push on the clips behind
the auxiliary storage compartment or the remote CD player.
Pull down in order to release the module.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the electrical
connector.
- Slide in the rear tabs of the module.
Push up in order to engage the module.
- Install the ashtray. Refer to
Ashtray Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Install the IP auxiliary storage compartment, if equipped.
- Install the remote CD player, if equipped.
- Install the knee bolster. Refer to
Knee Bolster Replacement
in Interior Trim.

- Reprogram the EVO/Passlockā¢ module. Refer to
Programming Replacement Keys, Ignition Cylinder, or Powertrain Control Module
