Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle Column Shift

Tools Required

J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture

1. Install the shroud protector (1) to the lower shroud (2).




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the upper shroud (2) and secure by using 1 TORX® head screw (1).

Tighten
Tighten the screw to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

3. The shift lever seal must seat in the shrouds.



4. Install the lower shroud (1) and secure by using 2 pan head tapping screws (2).

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).




5. Take the column out from J 41352 .
6. Install the tilt lever into the lower shroud.

Tools Required

J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture

1. Set the steering column into J 41352 .



2. Use a screwdriver to pry the electrical BTSI actuator from the steering column jacket assembly.
