Rear Wheel Opening Flare Replacement Pickup

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 277574  Size: SH
  1. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Wheel Removal in Tires and Wheels.
  2. Remove the flare-to-quarter panel screws.
  3. Remove the inner fender water deflector.
  4. Remove the access plugs inside the quarter panel liner.
  5. Remove the quarter panel-to-flare nuts.
  6. Remove the hidden nuts between the fender and the outer panel and the inner wall of the bed.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the hidden nuts between the fender outer panel and the inner wall of the bed.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the flare-to-fender nuts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  3. Install the inner fender water deflector.

  5. Install the fender-to-flare nuts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the flare-to-fender nuts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  7. Install the flare-to-fender screws.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the flare-to-fender screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Install the access plugs inside the fender liner.
  10. Install the tire and wheel assembly.

Rear Wheel Opening Flare Replacement Suburban and Utility

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the flare-to-fender screws.
  2. Install the rear seat blower motor cover, if equipped. Refer to the Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  3. Remove the left side spare tire, if equipped. Refer to Spare Tire Carrier Replacement in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Remove the quarter panel interior trim. Refer to the Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  5. Remove the flare-to-quarter panel nuts from the inside wheel well.
  6. Remove the flare from the vehicle.

  1. Install the flare to the vehicle with the nuts and the screws.
  2. Tighten

        • Tighten the flare-to-fender nuts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
        • Tighten the flare-to-fender screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
  3. Install the quarter panel interior trim. Refer to the Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  4. Install the rear seat blower motor cover, if equipped.
