AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER SERVICE PROCEDURE

MODELS: 1982-1983 C-K LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WTIH 6.2L DIESEL ENGINE AND AIR CONDITIONING

Air conditioning condenser replacement procedures for subject models were omitted from Section 1B of the 1982 and 1983 Light Duty Truck Shop Manuals (X-8341). Use the following procedure when this service is necessary for C-K model trucks so equipped.

Replacement

1. Disconnect battery ground cables (2). 2. Discharge system. 3. Remove upper radiator supports. 4. Remove air intake tube. 5. Disconnect condenser inlet and outlet lines. 6. Raise vehicle on hoist. 7. Remove lower fan shroud bolts. 8. Lift and support radiator. 9. Remove lower mounting bolts. 10. Remove top mounting bolts. 11. Tilt condenser back and remove from vehicle.

If the vehicle is equipped with RPO KC4, Auxiliary Oil Cooler, do the following after Step 2 of above procedure:

1. Remove the grille assembly. 2. Disconnect the lines at oil cooler. 3. Disconnect the lines at the radiator.

Installation

1. Reverse removal procedure. 2. Charge the system and check for leaks. 3. Check engine for proper oil level and add engine oil if necessary.
