SOME VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE A CONDITION OF THE TRANSFER CASE HOPPING OUT OF 4-LOW.
THIS CONDITION MAY BE CAUSED BY AN INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED TRANSFER CASE SHIFT LINKAGE OR LOW DETENT LOADS AT THE TRANSFER CASE SHIFT DETENT LEVER.
INSPECT AND ADJUST THE TRANSFER CASE SHIFT LINKAGE AS DETAILED IN THE APPROPRIATE C/K SERVICE MANUAL, SECTION 7D, TRANSFER CASE LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT. IF, AFTER PROPERLY ADJUSTING THE LINKAGE, THE TRANSFER CASE CONTINUES TO HOP OUT OF 4-LOW, THE TRANSFER CASE SHIFT DETENT LEVER (FIGURE 1, #38) SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A REVISED SHIFT DETENT LEVER. THIS REVISED SHIFT DETENT LEVER HAS A DEEPER 4-LOW DETENT NOTCH TO PREVENT 4-LOW HOP OUT.
THE REVISED SHIFT DETENT LEVER ENTERED PRODUCTION NOVEMBER 1994 FOR 1995 MODEL YEAR BORG-WARNER 4401 AND 4470 TRANSFER CASE ASSEMBLIES. THE REVISED TRANSFER CASE ASSEMBLIES ARE IDENTIFIED BY BORG-WARNER AUTOMOTIVE P/N'S 4401-015, 4401-016 OR 4470-012. SEE FIGURE 2 FOR IDENTIFICATION TAG INFORMATION.
