LUGGAGE RACK WIND NOISE REDESIGNED CROSS RAILS

SUBJECT: ROOF LUGGAGE RACK WIND NOISE (REDESIGNED CROSS RAILS)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 "C/K" SUBURBANS AND UTILITIES

Owners of some 1992 C/K Suburban and C/K utility models equipped with roof luggage racks may comment on unacceptable wind noise coming from the roof of the vehicle. The wind noise may be emanating from the roof luggage rack. The roof rack cross rails have been redesigned for the 1993 C/K Suburbans and C/K utilities. This bulletin provides the installation procedure for the redesigned cross rails and sliders on the roof luggage racks.

The new design for the cross rails is symmetrical and eliminates the need for positioning the rails in a particular direction.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
