For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Clean the parts in solvent.
  2. Blow dry the parts with compressed air.
  3. Inspect the valve rocker arms and balls at the mating surfaces.
  4. These surfaces should be smooth and free from scoring or other damage.

  5. Inspect the valve rocker arm areas that contact the valve stems and the sockets that contact the valve pushrods.
  6. These areas should be smooth and free of damage and wear.

  7. Inspect the valve rocker arm bolts for signs of cracking at the bolt shoulder. Replace as necessary.
  8. Check the valve pushrods for bending. Roll the valve pushrod on a flat surface in order to determine if it is bent. Replace as necessary.
  9. Check the ends of the valve pushrods for scoring or roughness.
  10. Check the valve pushrod oil passage for restrictions.
