Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery
negative cables from the batteries. Refer to
Battery Cable
in Engine Electrical.
- Refer to transfer case if equipped.

- Remove the transmission from the vehicle.
- Remove the clutch assembly from the crankshaft (if equipped).
Refer to
Clutch Assembly Replacement
in Transmission Transaxle.
- Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.
Installation Procedure
- Install the flywheel to
the crankshaft
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the flywheel
mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 90 N·m (65 lb ft).
- Install the clutch assembly to the flywheel (if removed). Refer
to
Clutch Assembly Replacement
in Transmission
Transaxle.
- Install the transmission in the vehicle.
- Install the transfer case in the vehicle.

- Connect the battery negative cables to the batteries. Refer to
Battery Cable
in Engine Electrical.
