Removal Procedure

  1. Open the endgate to the horizontal position.
  2. Remove the endgate trim panel. Refer to Endgate Handle Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 264385  Size: SH
  4. Remove the latch assembly cover (1).
  5. Remove the locking rod from the lock assembly.
  6. Remove the screws that secure the bumper to the endgate.
  7. Remove the bumper from the endgate.
  8. Remove the bolts (3) securing the latch to the endgate.
  9. Remove the latch (4) from the endgate.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the latch (4) to the gate.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts securing the latch to the endgate.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the latch to the endgate bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the bumper to the endgate.
  6. Install the screws securing the bumper to the endgate.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bumper to the endgate screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  8. Install the locking rod to the window latch.
  9. Install the latch assembly cover (1).
  10. The cover must be installed with both gates closed for the proper alignment.

  11. Install the endgate trim panel. Refer to Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement .
