Important: Use the proper tool in order to separate the ball joints.
Do NOT reuse the relay rod nut.
Notice: Do not hammer on the pitman arm, pitman arm shaft or puller. Damage to the pitman arm or steering gear may result.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the Pitman arm nut to 250 N·m (184 lb ft).
Make sure the seal is on the Pitman arm ball stud.
Tighten
Tighten the J 29193
to 62 N·m (46 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the new prevailing torque nut to 62 N·m (46 lb ft).
