Condition
Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:
| • | Intermittent MIL/Service Engine Soon indicator illuminated |
| • | Anti-Lock Brake System Warning Light illuminated |
| • | Various electrical system failures |
| • | Blown fuses |
Cause
The front chassis wiring harness chaffing against the left front spring hanger bolts may cause these conditions. This contact may cause a rub through to the wires enclosed in that harness resulting in the above conditions.
Correction
Repair any damaged wires and secure the front chassis harness away from the spring hanger bolts. Use the procedure and part numbers listed below.
- Inspect and repair any damaged wires. Refer to Wiring Repair in the Wiring Systems sub-section of the Service Manual.
- Remove the nut and bolt attaching the heater pipe clamp (2) to the left frame rail.
- Secure the bracket (1), P/N 15022258 to the heater pipe clamp bolt with the nut as shown.
- Secure the harness to the bracket using a heavy tie strap, approximately 7.6 mm (0.0393 in) x 556 mm (21.9 in) long.
Tighten
Tighten the mounting bolt to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
