This bulletin is being revised to update model years for WT5500 model and add Isuzu to the Models. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number  01-06-04-049 (Section 06 -- Engine/Propulsion System).


Condition

Some customers may comment on white exhaust smoke during start-up in cold ambient temperatures.

Cause

Low cetane rated fuel may cause this condition.

Correction

A new engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor has been developed to reduce the white exhaust start-up smoke. Replace the ECT sensor using the procedure listed below.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ECT sensor.
  2. Remove the ECT sensor (1).
  3. Install the ECT sensor.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the sensor to 19.6 N·m(14.5 lb ft).

  5. Connect the electrical connector to the ECT sensor.
