TRANSMISSION MODELS: VEHICLE APPLICATIONS: 1985-90 C,K,P,R,V TRUCKS G-VAN W/3L80/3L80-HD

Bulletin Covers:

Some HYDRA-MATIC 3L80/3L80-HD models experienced Direct Clutch distress. This distress was caused by an oil leak in the clutch apply circuit at the Centre Support joint between the Case and the Centre Support. A new Centre support (654), Case Assembly (10), Piston (650) and Bolt (79) eliminated this root cause for Direct Clutch distress.

DATE OF PRODUCTION CHANGE: (Figure 1) -------------------------- Beginning March 1, 1990 (Julian date 060) all 1990 HYDRA-MATIC 3L80/3L80-HD transmissions were built with the new Centre Support (654), Case Assembly (10), Intermediate Piston (650) and Bolt (79).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
