Catalytic Converter Replacement 4WD

1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2. Remove the bolts at the front of the three-way catalytic converter.



3. Unbolt the converter from the muffler.



4. Remove the converter from the rubber converter hangers.



6. Remove the converter from the front exhaust pipe.

2. Install the new three-way catalytic converter into the exhaust pipe.



3. Install converter to the converter rubber hangers.



4. Install the muffler with a new gasket.



5. Check for clearance.
6. Check the alignment.
7. Tighten all clamps and fasteners to specifications. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
8. Lower the vehicle.

Catalytic Converter Replacement 4.3L

1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2. Remove the bolts at the front of the three-way catalytic converter.



3. Unbolt the converter from the muffler.



4. Remove the converter to hanger attaching bolts.



5. Remove the converter from the front exhaust pipe.

Notice: The three-way catalytic converter requires the use of unleaded fuel only. Using leaded fuel will damage the converter and other emission system components.

1. Install the new three-way catalytic converter onto the exhaust pipe.



2. Install the converter to the converter hanger.



3. Install a new gasket with the muffler.
4. Check for clearance.
5. Check the alignment.
6. Tighten all clamps and fasteners to specifications. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
7. Lower the vehicle.

Catalytic Converter Replacement 2.2L

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the clamp at the front of the three-way catalytic converter.



3. Unbolt the converter from the muffler.



4. Remove the converter from the converter rod hanger.



5. Remove the converter from the front exhaust pipe.

Notice: The three-way catalytic converter requires the use of unleaded fuel only. Using leaded fuel will damage the converter and other emission system components.

1. Install the new three-way catalytic converter into the exhaust pipe.



2. Install converter to the converter rod hanger.



3. Connect the muffler.



4. Check for clearance.
5. Check the alignment.
6. Tighten all clamps and fasteners to specifications. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Check for leaks.
