When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
The Seat Belt Bolt Removing Tool, (BO-47549), the torx bits included with this special tool break when used with the pneumatic impact gun and/or seat belt bolt strips and welded nut broken from floor pan.
The Torx bits included with special tool BO-47549 are not impact Torx bits and may break when used with the impact gun. Since this campaign applies to older model vehicles which may have more underbody corrosion, the bolts may be difficult to remove.
IMPORTANT: BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE BOLT, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A HAMMER AND PUNCH BE USED TO HELP BREAK THE BOLT LOOSE. REFERENCE BULLETIN 03020 FOR THE RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE. THE TORX BIT HAS TO BE SEATED IN THE BOLT BEFORE APPLYING THE IMPACT GUN, OR THE BOLT WILL BE STRIPPED.
If seat belt bolt strips, dealer should use a safe method to remove seat belt bolt. If weld nut is broken from floor pan, use SPO part number 11508658, which is hardness 9, metric 12, 1.75 thread to secure seat belt bolt back to floor pan. Loctite should be used on the bolt to secure nut to seat belt bolt. Loctite® type blue should be used. If reinforcement plate is broken away from floor pan, pop rivets should be used to resecure reinforcement plate.
