Was the Heater Blower Controls System Check performed?

  1. Disconnect the blower motor relay.
  2. Connect a test lamp between blower motor relay connector cavity 86 (CKT 52) and battery ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Turn the mode selector switch to the HEAT position.
  5. Turn the blower switch to the HIGH position.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 6

Connect a test lamp between HVAC control connector C4 cavity A and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 4

Locate and repair the open in CKT 52 (ORN).

Is the repair complete?

--

Replace the HVAC controller. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Connect a test lamp between blower motor relay connector cavity 86 (CKT 52) and cavity 85 (CKT 850).

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 8

Locate and repair the open in CKT 850 (BLK) between the blower motor relay and S118.

Is the repair complete?

--

Connect a fused jumper wire to blower motor relay connector cavity 87 (CKT 540) and cavity 30 (CKT 65).

Does the blower motor operate?

--

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 10

Replace the blower motor relay. Refer to Blower Motor Resistor Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the HVAC fuse at the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC).

Is the fuse open?

Go to Step 12

Locate and repair the open or high resistance in CKT 540 (ORN).

Is the repair complete?

Go to Heater Blower Controls System Check

Disconnect the blower motor relay.

Remove HVAC fuse.

Install the J 8681-A .

Does the circuit breaker cycle?

Go to Step 13

  1. Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT 540 (ORN).
  2. Replace the HVAC fuse 30A.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Locate and repair the intermittent short to ground in CKT 540 (ORN).
  2. Replace the HVAC fuse 30A.
