Did you perform the Instrument Cluster System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
  2. Use the scan tool in order to command the fuel gauge OFF and ON.
  3. • The gauge should be at or near E when commanded OFF.
    • The gauge should be at or near F when commanded ON.

Does the gauge operate correctly when commanded with the scan tool?

  1. Select the fuel level display on the scan tool.
  2. Compare the fuel level display on the scan tool to the amount of fuel that is in the tank.

Is the quantity measured by the scan tool within 15 percent of the amount of the fuel in the tank?

Go to Symptoms in Engine Controls - 2.2L or Symptoms in Engine Controls - 4.3L

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
