Use the scan tool in order to read the body control module (BCM) current trouble codes.

Does the scan tool show any DTCs?

Remove the DRL relay from the underhood fuse block.

Do the daytime running lamps remain on?

Locate and repair a short to ground in CKT 711 (DK GRN/WHT) between the left headlamp high beam bulb and the underhood fuse block.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the DRL relay.

  1. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle.
  2. Inspect the system. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Body Control System in Body Control System. Return to this step if the system check reports System Normal.
  3. Select Body Control Module.
  4. Read the Headlamp Request Switch status.
  5. Turn the headlamp switch to the HEAD position.

Does the Headlamp Request Switch display the specified value?

ACTIVE

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect body control module connector C2.
  2. Connect a test lamp between CKT 103 (WHT), cavity A11 and ground.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to the HEAD position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Locate and repair an open in CKT 103 (WHT) between the BCM and the underhood fuse block.

Is the repair complete?

--

  1. Remove the daytime running lamps (DRL) relay.
  2. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) between cavity 1 at the DRL relay and ground.

Is the resistance equal to or less than the specified value?

1 ohms

Go to Step 6

With the J 39200 DMM still connected to cavity 1 at the DRL relay socket, disconnect body control module (BCM) connector C2.

Is the resistance equal to or less than the specified value?

1 ohms

Go to Step 8

Replace the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair a short to ground in CKT 592 (LT GRN/BLK).
