Radio
The following components supply voltage to the radio at all times:
CKT 340 (ORN) provides voltage for the radio station and clock
memory storage. Turn the ignition switch to the ACCY position or the RUN
position in order to supply voltage to the radio through the RDO IGN fuse 24
and CKT 1301 (DK GRN). CKT 1050 (BLK) provides the ground path
to G203 and G204.
When the headlamp switch is in the PARK position or the HEAD position
via the following components, the radio display illumination voltage is variable:
• | The instrument panel dimmer switch |
CKT 1050 provides the ground path to G203 and G204.
Speed compensated volume, if equipped, is controlled by a vehicle speed
signal provided by the powertrain control module (PCM)/vehicle control module
(VCM) to the radio and through CKT 389 (DK GRN). As speed increases,
so does the volume. Each notch of the control ring of the radio allows for
more volume compensation.
Remote Audio Unit
For chevrolet and GMC when the radio is turned to the ON position voltage
is provided to the following components:
• | The remote audio player |
The remote audio player ground path is provided by the following components:
• | CKT 1050 (BLK) from the remote audio player to the radio |
• | CKT 1050 (BLK) from the radio to the grounds |
For oldsmobile the following components supply voltage to the remote
audio player at all times:
The remote audio player ground path is provided by the following components:
For chevrolet and GMC (except envoy) when the headlamp switch is in
the PARK position or the HEAD position via the following components, the remote
audio player illumination voltage is variable:
• | The instrument panel dimmer switch |
• | CKT 1220 (GRY) to the radio |
• | CKT 1220 (GRY) from the radio to the remote audio player |
• | The remote audio player |
The data communication between the radio and the remote audio player
is provided by CKT 835 (DK GRN).
The low level audio output signal from the remote audio player to the
radio is provided by the following components:
• | CKT 367 (BRN/WHT) for the left channel |
• | CKT 368 (DK GRN/WHT) for the right channel |
• | CKT 372 (BLK/WHT) for the audio common ground |
Amplifier
The following components supply voltage to the amplifier at all times:
When the radio is turned to the ON position battery voltage is available
to CKT 145 (DK GRN) and the amplifier. CKT 1050 (BLK)
provides the ground path to G206. The variable low level audio signals from
the radio are amplified and delivered to the speakers.
The amplified audio signal to the speakers is provided by the following
components:
• | CKT 511 (TAN) for the left front channel |
• | CKT 512 (LT GRN) for the right front channel |
• | CKT 1546 (ORNBLK) for the audio front common ground |
• | CKT 599 (BRN) for the left rear channel |
• | CKT 546 (DK BLU) for the right rear channel |
• | CKT 1547 (DK GRN/WHT) for the audio rear common
ground |
Rear Seat Audio
Voltage to the rear seat audio module is provided by the following components:
• | The ignition switch (in the ACCY or the RUN position) |
The voltage for button illumination is provided by the following components:
• | The headlamp switch (in the PARK position) |
CKT 1050 (BLK) provides the ground path to G206.
Data communication is provided by CKT 1011 (DK GRN) from
the rear seat audio module to the radio. This allows for control of the following
features:
• | Radio preset/programming |
When the rear seat audio module is requested ON, power-on signal voltage
is available to CKT 1011 (DK GRN) and the radio. The radio then
supplies battery voltage to the following components:
• | The rear seat audio module |
The voltage provides the following functions:
• | Illuminates the power-on indicator of the rear seat audio module
to provide consumer visual feedback |
• | Switches audio signal routing from the rear speakers to the rear
seat audio module |
The rear seat audio module provides two headphone jacks with volume
controls for each headphone jack output. Balancing of the audio signal is
not required.
