Front Seat Adjuster Replacement Manual

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Refer to Refer to Seat Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the E-Z entry cable from the adjuster (E-Z entry seat only).
  3. Remove the adjuster return spring.

  4. Object Number: 298929  Size: SH
  5. Remove the adjuster assembly seat bolts.
  6. Remove the trim cover and/or shim.
  7. Remove the lock wire.
  8. Remove the adjuster assembly from the seat.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 298929  Size: SH
  1. Install the adjuster to the seat.
  2. Install the lock wire to the adjuster.
  3. Install the trim cover and/or shim.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the adjuster to the seat bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the adjuster to the seat bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the adjuster return spring to the seat frame.
  8. Connect the recliner E-Z entry cable from the adjuster (E-Z entry seat only).
  9. Install the seat to the vehicle. Refer to Refer to Seat Replacement .

Front Seat Adjuster Replacement Power w/ Motor Assembly

Removal Procedure

  1. Adjust the seat to the full upward front and rear position.
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  4. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement .
  5. Perform the following steps in order to disconnect the motor to adjuster cables:
  6. 4.1. Note the location of the cables.
    4.2. Note the routing of the cables.
    4.3. Squeeze and disconnect the cable ends from the inner adjuster.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  8. Disconnect the E-Z entry cable from the adjuster.
  9. Remove the adjuster assembly seat bolts.
  10. Remove the adjuster assembly from the seat.
  11. Remove the motor assembly nuts from the adjuster.

  13. Remove the motor assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the motor assembly.
  2. Install the motor assembly nuts to the adjuster.
  3. Install the adjuster to the seat.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the adjuster to seat bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  7. Connect the E-Z entry cable from the adjuster.
  8. Connect the electrical connector, if equipped.
  9. Install the seat to the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement .
  10. Connect the battery negative cable.
  11. If the vehicle is equipped with memory seats, calibrate the seat. Refer to Memory Seat Calibration .
