Removal Procedure
- Perform the following steps in order to inspect the window latch assembly for proper adjustment:
- If the latch is misaligned and/or the window is not snug against the weather-strip, adjust the latch using the following procedure.
- Remove the endgate or the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Endgate Trim Panel Replacement or Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .
- Use a screwdriver in order to carefully pry the window latch forward and backward.
- Adjust the latch assembly location.
| 1.1. | Hold the outside window handle. |
| 1.2. | Try to move the window in and out. |
If the latch is misaligned to the striker, a rattle condition will exist.
| 1.3. | Inspect the window for a snug fit against the top and the sides of the body opening. |
This will help to loosen the window latch nut.
Installation Procedure
- Install the latch assembly nut or nuts.
- Install the endgate cover (if removed). Refer to Trim Panel Opening Cover Replacement .
- Install the endgate or the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Endgate Trim Panel Replacement or Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
