CONSOLE DOOR MODIFICATION IMPROVED APPEARANCE AND EFFORT

1983-85 S/T TRUCKS AND JIMMYS EQUIPPED WITH RPO D55 CONSOLE

The seat separator console on 1983-85 Jimmys can be modified to improve the appearance of the lid in the closed position and to allow less closure effort. These changes include the addition of a spring under the door middle attaching screw and a new spring at the door compartment stop.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Remove door from console body (see Figure No. 1).

Install two washers, P/N 2077521, and spring, P/N 15544536, under the door center attaching screw on the hinge side. The tab on the spring should point away from the hinge side of the console (see Figure No. 1).

Discard existing spring at the door compartment stop and install spring P/N 15544543 (see Figure No. 1).

Reinstall console door.
