SUBJECT: PROMPT RETURN OF 4L60-E AND 4L80-E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SRTA CORES

MODELS: 1993 LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH 4L60-E OR 4L80-E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS

AS OUTLINED IN GMC TRUCK BULLETIN NUMBER 93-7A-9 (CORPORATE #277131), THE 1993 4L60-E IS CURRENTLY UNDER AN EXCHANGE PROGRAM FOR ALL BUT LIMITED ON-VEHICLE REPAIRS. THE TRANSMISSION CORES FROM THIS PROGRAM NEED TO BE RETURNED TO YOUR LOCAL PDC AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. BY RETURNING THE CORES PROMPTLY A ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS CAN BE DONE QUICKER AND MAY RESULT IN PRODUCT IMPROVEMENTS HAPPENING SOONER.

LIKEWISE, 1993 4L80-E SRTA CORES NEED TO BE RETURNED PROMPTLY FOR ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS. UNITS RETURNED THROUGH THE SRTA PROGRAM ARE VERY IMPORTANT IN QUICKLY DETERMINING HOW TRANSMISSIONS PERFORM IN CUSTOMER VEHICLES AND IF PRODUCT IMPROVEMENTS ARE NEEDED.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR COOPERATION IN THIS MATTER AS IN THE LONG RUN IT WILL BE BENEFICIAL TO BOTH GENERAL MOTORS AND OUR CUSTOMERS.

GENERAL MOTORS BULLETINS ARE INTENDED FOR USE BY PROFESSIONAL TECHNICIANS, NOT A "DO-IT-YOURSELFER". THEY ARE WRITTEN TO INFORM THOSE TECHNICIANS OF CONDITIONS THAT MAY OCCUR ON SOME VEHICLES, OR TO PROVIDE INFORMATION THAT COULD ASSIST IN THE PROPER SERVICE OF A VEHICLE. PROPERLY TRAINED TECHNICIANS HAVE THE EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND KNOW-HOW TO DO A JOB PROPERLY AND SAFELY. IF A CONDITION IS DESCRIBED, DO NOT ASSUME THAT THE BULLETIN APPLIES TO YOUR VEHICLE, OR THAT YOUR VEHICLE WILL HAVE THAT CONDITION. SEE A GENERAL MOTORS DEALER SERVICING YOUR BRAND OF GENERAL MOTORS VEHICLE FOR INFORMATION ON WHETHER YOUR VEHICLE MAY BENEFIT FROM THE INFORMATION.
