SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON PAINTING OF BODY SIDE MOLDINGS (CLADDING)

MODELS: 1994-97 GMC S/T TRUCKS

IN AN EFFORT TO CONSOLIDATE STOCK, ALL BODY SIDE MOLDINGS (CLADDING) WILL BE PROVIDED PAINT TO MATCH. PAINTING PROCEDURES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1. WASH WITH WAX AND GREASE REMOVER SUCH AS DUPONT 3900S, OR EQUIVALENT.

2. SCUFF WITH 3M GRAY SCOTCHBRITE*.

3. BLOW OFF AND USE TACK RAG ON PART TO REMOVE ANY DUST PARTICLES.

4. APPLY ONE COAT DUPONT 615 ETCH PRIMER, OR EQUIVALENT.

5. APPLY DUPONT CHROMA BASE COLOR, OR EQUIVALENT.

6. APPLY DUPONT 7500 CLEAR COAT, OR EQUIVALENT.

IMPORTANT: ALWAYS FOLLOW MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS FOR APPLICATION SPECIFICS.

NOTICE: WHEN USING ANY REFINISH SYSTEM, IT IS IMPORTANT TO USE THE COMPONENTS AND PRODUCTS RECOMMENDED, AS THEIR CHEMISTRIES WERE DESIGNED TO WORK TOGETHER.

CAUTION:

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF PAINT SYSTEMS AVAILABLE FOR SERVICE USE; HOWEVER, MANY REQUIRE ADDITIVES CONTAINING ISOCYANATES. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT ALL RECOMMENDATIONS AND WARNINGS LISTED ON THE CONTAINER LABEL FOR MATERIALS SELECTED BE FOLLOWED. IT IS MANDATORY THAT ADEQUATE RESPIRATORY PROTECTION BE WORN. USE A NIIOSH-APPROVED CHARCOAL OR AIR-SUPPLIED RESPIRATOR AS RECOMMENDED IN THE LABEL DIRECTIONS OF THE ACTIVATION MATERIAL BEING USED.
