FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD PREMATURE WEAR (REPLACE

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO INCLUDE 1994 AND 1996 OLDSMOBILE BRAVADA. PLEASE DISCARD CORPORATE BULLETIN NUMBER 66-50-17 (SECTION 5 - BRAKES). ----------------------------------------------------------------------

SUBJECT: FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD PREMATURE WEAR (REPLACE DISC BRAKE PADS)

MODELS: 1994-97 CHEVROLET AND GMC S/T MODELS 1994, 1996 OLDSMOBILE BRAVADA EXCLUDING ALL WHEEL DRIVE (RPO F46)

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT ABOUT PREMATURE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD WEAR.

CAUSE:

OWNER DRIVE CYCLES THAT ARE PRIMARILY URBAN STOP AND GO USE. THIS TYPE OF USE CAN CAUSE RAPID WEAR OF THE FRONT DISC BRAKE PADS IN RELATIVELY SHORT MILEAGE ACCUMULATION PERIODS.

CORRECTION:

REPLACE THE FRONT DISC BRAKE PADS USING P/N 15030115 FOLLOWING THE SERVICE PROCEDURE DESCRIBED IN SECTION 5B OF THE APPROPRIATE SERVICE MANUAL. THESE PADS ARE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE LONGER LIFE WHEN VEHICLE USE IS AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.

IMPORTANT: WHEN ANY BRAKE SERVICE IS PERFORMED, CLEANING AND LUBING ALL METAL TO METAL CONTACT POINTS (I.E.; CALIPER TO KNUCKLE, PAD TO KNUCKLE, ETC.) SHOULD BE PART OF THE NORMAL PROCESS. ALSO, CALIPER CLEARANCES MUST BE CHECKED AND, IF REQUIRED, CORRECTED.
