Removal Procedure

Notice: When you are servicing the automatic level control sensor link, ensure that the sensor link and the sensor arm are not damaged. Ensure the sensor arm and the sensor link are properly oriented. Improper orientation of the sensor arm and the sensor link may cause damage to the automatic level control system or the vehicle.

Caution: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  4. Disconnect the load leveling height sensor electrical connector.

  5. Object Number: 299644 Size: SH
  6. Remove the load leveling height sensor link from the rear differential bracket ball stud.
  7. Remove the load leveling height sensor bracket assembly to the rear shock and spare tire crossmember retaining bolts.

  8. Object Number: 299650 Size: SH
  9. Remove the load leveling height sensor bracket assembly from the vehicle.
  10. Remove load leveling height sensor link from the load leveling height sensor arm ball stud.
  11. Remove load leveling height sensor to the bracket bolts.
  12. Remove load leveling height sensor from the bracket.

Installation Procedure

Notice: When you are servicing the automatic level control sensor link, ensure that the sensor link and the sensor arm are not damaged. Ensure the sensor arm and the sensor link are properly oriented. Improper orientation of the sensor arm and the sensor link may cause damage to the automatic level control system or the vehicle.

  1. Install the load leveling height sensor to the load leveling sensor bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the load leveling height sensor to the load leveling sensor bracket bolts.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the load leveling height sensor to the load leveling sensor bracket bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Install the load leveling height sensor link to the load leveling height sensor arm ball stud.

  6. Object Number: 299650 Size: SH
  7. Install the load leveling height sensor bracket assembly to the vehicle.
  8. Install the load leveling height sensor bracket assembly to the rear shock and spare tire crossmembers bolts.
  9. Tighten
Tighten the load leveling height sensor bracket to the rear shock and spare tire crossmember bolts to 12 N·m (110 lb in).
