Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the steering linkage shield. Refer to Steering Linkage Shield Replacement in Steering Linkage (Non-Rack and Pinion).

  4. Object Number: 416596  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the solenoid vacuum hoses.

  6. Object Number: 416597  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the solenoid electrical connector.

  8. Object Number: 416598  Size: SH
  9. Remove the retaining screw from the bracket.

  10. Object Number: 416595  Size: SH
  11. Remove the solenoid.

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the new soleniod bracket hole with hole in the AIR pump bracket.

  2. Object Number: 416598  Size: SH
  3. Install the retainer screw (1).

  4. Object Number: 416597  Size: SH
  5. Connect the solenoid electrical connector.

  6. Object Number: 416596  Size: SH
  7. Connect the solenoid vacuum hoses.
  8. Install the steering linkage shield. Refer to Steering Linkage Shield Replacement in Steering Linkage (Non-Rack and Pinion).
  9. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
