Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose Replacement 2.2L

Removal Procedure

Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  2. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.

  3. Object Number: 395854  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the power steering cooler hose from the power steering pump.

  5. Object Number: 596371  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the power steering cooler hose from the power steering cooler.
  7. Remove the power steering cooler hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Notice: The inlet and outlet hoses must not be twisted during installation. Do not bend or distort the inlet or outlet hoses to make installation easier. Failure to follow these procedures could result in component damage.

  1. Install the power steering cooler hose to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 596371  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Connect the power steering cooler hose to the power steering cooler.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering cooler hose to the power steering cooler clamp to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Connect the power steering cooler hose to the power steering pump.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering cooler hose to the power steering pump clamp to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  8. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  9. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose Replacement 4.3L

Removal Procedure

Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls 4.3L.
  2. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.

  3. Object Number: 395852  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the power steering cooler hose from the power steering pump.

  5. Object Number: 395851  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the power steering cooler hose from the power steering cooler.
  7. Remove the power steering cooler hose from the vehicle.
