Remote CD Changer Replacement Envoy Only
Removal Procedure
- Remove the negative battery cable.
- Remove the floor console. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
in Instrument Panel Gauges,
and Console.
- Remove the compact disc
changer cover retaining bolts.
- Remove the compact disc changer cover.
- Remove the compact disc
changer retaining bolts.
- Remove the compact disc changer.
- Remove the console wiring harness connector from the compact disc
changer.
Installation Procedure
- Install the console wiring
harness connector to the compact disc changer.
- Install the compact disc changer.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the compact
disc changer retaining bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the compact disc changer retaining bolts to 6 N·m
(53 lb in).
- Install the compact disc
changer cover.
- Install the compact disc changer cover retaining bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the compact disc changer cover retaining bolts to 1.9 N·m
(17 lb in).
- Install the negative battery cable.
Remote CD Changer Replacement Except Envoy
Removal Procedure
- Remove the negative battery cable.
- Remove the floor console. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
in Instrument Panel Gauges,
and Console.
- Disconnect the console wiring harness connector to the remote
compact disc changer.
- Remove the compact disc changer mounting nuts.
- Remove the compact disc changer from the mounting bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the compact disc
changer to the mounting bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring

Tighten
Tighten the compact disc changer retaining nuts to 2 N·m
(18 lb in).
- Install the console wiring harness connector to the remote compact
disc changer.
- Install the floor console. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
in Instrument Panel Gauges,
and Console.
- Install the negative battery cable.
