Has the vehicle been checked for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls - 2.2L or Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls - 4.3L

  1. Disconnect the driver information display module connector.
  2. Connect the J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) from the driver information display module connector terminal 14 to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is the voltage within the specified value?

10-14 V

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Repair the following conditions in CKT 40 (ORN) between the driver information display module connector terminal 14 and the CTSY LP fuse in the IP fuse block:

    • Opens
    • High resistance
    • A short to ground

Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 13

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) from the driver information display module connector terminal 7 to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-14 V

Go to Step 8

Repair the following conditions in CKT 1301 (DK GRN) between the driver informatiion display module connector terminal 7 and the RDO IGN fuse in the IP fuse block:

    • Opens
    • High resistance
    • A short to ground

Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 13

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) from the driver information display module connector terminal 7 to terminal 8. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-14 V

Go to Step 10

Repair the following conditions in CKT 451 (BLK/WHT) between the driver information display module connector terminal 8 and G105:

    • Opens
    • High resistance
    • A short to battery voltage

Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the driver information display module connector for a poor connection.

Are the connections OK?

Go to Step 12

Repair the driver information display module connections as necessary. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the driver information display module. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement .

Inspect for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) that may interfere with the operation of the driver information display module.

Are any DTCs set?

Go to the Applicable DTC

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Disconnect the driver information display module connector.
  3. Connect the J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) from the driver information display module connector terminal 5 to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is voltage present?

10-14 V

Inspect RDO IGN fuse 24.

Is the fuse blown?

Connect a test lamp from the driver information display module cavity 5 to cavity 6. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp light?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 1301 (DK GRN) between the driver information display module and the IP fuse block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 451 (BLK/WHT) between the driver information display module cavity 6 and G105. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the driver information display module. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement .

Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT 1301 (DK GRN) between the driver information display module and the IP fuse block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?
