Driver Information Center (DIC) Temperature Display Always Reads SC w/ Trip Computer

Verify that the Driver Information Display Module Temperature display always reads SC.

Does the driver information system operate normally?

  1. Disconnect the ambient air temperature sensor.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Does the driver information display module display SC?

--

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) from the driver information display module connector terminal 10 to ground.
  3. Disconnect the driver information display module.
  4. Backprobe the driver information display module harness connector. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does CKT 735 (LT GRN/BLK) show a value within the specified range?

0-3 ohms

Go to Step 5

Repair the short to ground in CKT 735 (LT GRN/BLK) between the driver information display module connector terminal 10 and the ambient air temperature sensor terminal B. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the driver information dispaly module connector for a poor connection.

Are the connections OK?

Go to Step 8

Repair the driver information dispaly module connections as necessary. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the driver information display module. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement .

Inspect the ambient air temperature sensor connector for damage.

Repair the short to ground in CKT 735 (LT GRN/BLK) between the driver information display module connector terminal 8 and the ambient air temperature sensor terminal B. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
