  1. Disconnect the connector at the automatic day/night inside rear view mirror.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Place the transmission in REVERSE.
  4. Connect a test lamp from cavity 3 of the automatic day/night inside rear view mirror to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Replace the automatic day/night inside rear view mirror. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .

Inspect the 25A B/U LAMP fuse in the underhood fuse block.

Is the fuse blown?

  1. Repair the short circuit between the 25A B/U LAMP fuse and the 15A VEH B/U fuse.
  2. Replace the 25A B/U LAMP fuse.

Did you complete the repair?

Inspect the 15A VEH B/U fuse in the underhood fuse block.

Is the fuse blown?

  1. Repair the short circuit to ground in CKT 1324 (LT GRN) between the 15A VEH B/U fuse and the inside rear view mirror.
  2. Replace the 15A VEH B/U fuse.

Did you complete the repair?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Place the transmission in REVERSE.
  3. Use a test lamp in order to probe the metallic part of the 15A VEH B/U fuse in the underhood fuse block.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Repair the open in CKT 1324 (LT GRN) between 15A VEH B/U fuse and the inside rear view mirror.

    • For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, use the following procedure:
        1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
        2. Place the transmission in REVERSE.
        3. Use a test lamp in order to probe terminal B of the backup lamp switch.
    • For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, use the following procedure:
        1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
        2. Place the transmission in REVERSE.
        3. Use a test lamp in order to probe terminal C of connector C1.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Repair the open in CKT 839 (PNK) between the 25A B/U LP fuse and one of the following components:

    • The manual transmission backup lamp switch
    • The park/neutral position and backup lamp switch

    • For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, use the following procedure:
        1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
        2. Place the transmission in REVERSE.
        3. Use a test lamp in order to probe terminal A of the backup lamp switch.
    • For vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, use the following procedure:
        1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
        2. Place the transmission in REVERSE.
        3. Use a test lamp in order to probe terminal F of connector C1.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Repair the open in CKT 1524 (GRY) between the 15A VEH B/U fuse and one of the following components:

    • The manual transmission backup lamp switch
    • The park/neutral position and backup lamp switch
