Schematic Reference: Power Seats Schematics

DEFINITION: This table assumes that all mechanical linkage and drivers are free from obstruction and not binding. This also assumes that all other directions are operational.

Did you perform the Power Seat Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Operate the power seat horizontally.

Does the power seat operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the horizontal motor.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the power seat motor - horizontal fore circuit and a good ground.
  3. Operate the power seat switch in the horizontal forward direction.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power seat motor - horizontal aft circuit and a good ground.
  2. Operate the power seat switch in the rearward direction.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power seat motor - horizontal forward and aft circuits.
  2. Operate the power seat switch in the forward and rearward direction.

Did the test lamp illuminate in both directions?

Go to Step 9

Test the power seat motor - horizontal forward circuit for an open or short to ground . Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the power seat motor - horizontal aft circuit for an open or short to ground . Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the power seat switch harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the horizontal motor harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the horizontal motor. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Replacement .
