Schematic Reference: Power Seats Schematics

DEFINITION: This table assumes that all mechanical linkage and drivers are free from obstruction and not binding. This also assumes that all other directions are operational.

Did you perform the Power Seat Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Operate the power seat in the rear tilt position.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the rear vertical motor.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the power seat motor - rear vertical down control circuit and a good ground.
  3. Operate the power seat switch in the rear down direction.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power seat motor - rear vertical up control circuit and a good ground.
  2. Operate the power seat switch in the rear up direction.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power seat motor - rear vertical up and down control circuits.
  2. Operate the power seat switch in the rear up and down directions.

Did the test lamp illuminate in both directions?

Go to Step 9

Test the power seat motor - rear vertical down control circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the power seat motor - rear vertical up control circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect the poor connections at the harness connector of the power seat switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect the poor connections at the harness connector of the Rear Vertical motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Replace the Rear Vertical motor. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Replacement .
