Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 654796  Size: SH
  1. Locate the specified horizontal position of the global positioning system (GPS) antenna on the exterior of the windshield (3) and mark with a grease pencil (4). The edge of the GPS antenna that fits against the headliner (1) is slanted, so exact positioning at the headliner must be determined before loosening/removing the headliner.
  2. Remove the headliner. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  4. Remove the GPS antenna (3) and groundstrip (1) by gently peeling it away from the windshield (4) and roof.
  5. Disconnect the GPS antenna cable connector (2) from the GPS antenna.
  6. Clean the old residue from the windshield using a razor blade and isopropyl alcohol.

Installation Procedure

  1. Locate the GPS antenna mounting location on the windshield.
  2. Important: Dirt, oil, and other contaminants can impede adhesion. Thoroughly clean the area using isopropyl alcohol and a razor blade, if necessary.

  3. Clean the interior of the windshield at the GPS antenna target mounting location.
  4. Important: The edge of the GPS antenna that fits against the headliner is slanted, so exact positioning at the headliner (1) must be determined before installing the GPS antenna. If unsure, test fit the GPS antenna to the headliner prior to removing the adhesive backing material.

  5. Remove the adhesive backing material on the GPS antenna and groundstrip (1).

  7. Install the GPS antenna in the exact location that was marked. The GPS antenna should be mounted 70 mm (2.75 in) (A) to the right, passenger side of vehicle, of the edge of the rear view mirror. Measurements are made from the outer edge of the GPS antenna.

  8. Object Number: 654802  Size: SH
  9. Apply the remainder of the groundstrip (1) and smooth out any air pockets.
  10. Reconnect the GPS antenna electrical connector (1).
  11. Reinstall the headliner (1). Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
