Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 796226  Size: SH
  1. Release the parking brake, if applied.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the park brake equalizer. Refer to Park Brake Cable Equalizer Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 794043  Size: SH
  5. Using the J 37043 (1), collapse the locking tabs on the park brake cable.
  6. Remove the park brake cable from the mounting bracket.

  7. Object Number: 592331  Size: SH
  8. Remove the cable mounting bolts for the mounting bracket.

  9. Object Number: 592345  Size: SH
  10. Remove the park brake cable mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 592345  Size: SH
  1. Install the park brake cable mounting bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the park brake cable mounting bracket bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting bracket bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  5. Install the rear cables to the mounting bracket by inserting the cable till all the retaining tabs snap into place.

  6. Object Number: 796226  Size: SH
  7. Install the park brake equalizer. Refer to Park Brake Cable Equalizer Replacement .
  8. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
  9. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
