Stabilizer Shaft Replacement 4-Door Utility
Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.

Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in
General Information.
- Remove the stabilizer links to stabilizer shaft nuts and bolts.
- Remove the stabilizer shaft U-bolt nuts.
- Remove the stabilizer shaft U-bolts and clamps.
- Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators.
- Remove the stabilizer shaft.
Installation Procedure
- Install the stabilizer shaft to the rear
axle.
- Install the stabilizer shaft insulators.
- Install the stabilizer shaft U-bolts and clamps.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the stabilizer shaft U-bolt nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).
- Install the stabilizer shaft link to the
stabilizer shaft mounting bolts.
- Install the stabilizer shaft link to the stabilizer shaft nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 57 N·m (42 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

- Remove the following parts from the stabilizer links:
- Remove the nuts from the U-bolts.
- Remove the following parts:
- Remove the stabilizer shaft.
Installation Procedure
- Install the stabilizer shaft to the rear
axle.
- Install the following parts:

- Install the nuts to the U-bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).
- Install the stabilizer shaft to the link mounting bolt.
- Install the stabilizer shaft to the link nut.
Tighten
Tighten the link nut to 68 N·m (50 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
